Tallgrass Financial Partners · Old Town, Wichita

Fractional CFO for Wichita companies that want to see the runway.

Most owners we meet have a good bookkeeper and a good CPA. What they do not have is someone looking thirteen weeks ahead. We are three partners in Old Town who show you your cash runway every week and get you ready for the bank, the buyer and the board.

Three numbers we hold ourselves to.

Month-end close by

DAY 06

Every client's books closed by the sixth working day. How the close runs.

The 13-week forecast

Your runway, in months, every Monday.

Runway is how long the cash lasts at the rate it is going out. Owners feel it; very few can say it as a number. The 13-week forecast turns it into one, then shows you what moves it. Scroll the chart, then try a scenario.

Cash runway Illustrative

18.4months

Base case: 18.4 months of runway. Tightest week is week 5, when cash dips under the minimum.

Illustrative figures for a composite $9M machine shop, in thousands of dollars. Not a client. Your forecast is built from your own bank data in the cash review.

How it runs

Four steps from the first call to the board pack.

  1. 01

    The cash review

Two weeks. Your bank, receivables and payables exports in; a working 13-week model and your runway number out, reviewed in a two-hour session.

  2. 02

    The 13-week model, every Monday

Theo rolls the forecast forward each week with actuals. You get one page: cash today, the tightest week ahead, runway in months.

  3. 03

    The monthly CFO meeting

One hour with a partner after the close. Margins by line, the forecast against last month, the one decision that needs making.

  4. 04

    The board and bank pack

Quarterly. The pack your lender, your board or your future buyer will ask for, already built. See what each band includes.

The partners

Three names. You will know all of them by the second month.

No account managers and no junior hand-off. The partner who builds your model is the partner in your monthly meeting. More about the firm.

A composite story

The Friday that stopped being a guess.

A second-generation composites shop east of the river, $11M in sales, one customer at 41% of it. Payroll every other Friday, and every other Thursday the owner checked the bank balance twice.

The 13-week model showed the problem was not the customer. It was a 60-day gap between buying resin and getting paid, plus a machine payment that landed in the same week as payroll twice a quarter. Moving the payment date and asking for 30% deposits on new tooling took the tightest week from $40,000 short to $310,000 clear.

Runway went from 3.2 months to 9.6. Then the shop used the same model for a lender package on a second machining centre.

Illustrative composite. Not a client; no real company or figures.

Before you book

What owners ask before they book

Not answered here? Call (316) 555-0179 and ask a partner.

Q01What is a fractional CFO, and how is it different from my CPA?

A fractional CFO does the forward-looking finance work a full-time CFO would do, a few days a month: the cash forecast, the budget, the lender relationship, the board pack. Your CPA files your taxes and looks backwards at last year. We work alongside your CPA and send them a clean year-end file. We are not CPAs and we do not prepare returns.

Q02Why does the first step cost money when everyone else offers a free call?

Because a call does not tell you anything you did not know. The 13-week cash review is a fixed $1,950 (illustrative): we take your bank and receivables exports, build the model, and spend two hours with you on the runway number and the three things that move it. You keep the model whether or not you hire us. If you only want to talk first, call (316) 555-0179 and a partner will answer.

Q03How much does a fractional CFO cost in Wichita?

Ours run from $2,900 a month for controller work to $9,800 a month for a partner on site one day a week, with CFO Monthly at $5,800 in the middle. Every band and what it includes is on the pricing page. Prices are illustrative for this concept site.

Q04Can you help us get a bank or SBA loan?

We prepare the package: projections, debt service coverage, the lender's checklist, and the answers to the questions a credit officer will ask. Your lender makes the decision, and we never promise an approval. See loan packages.

Q05We might sell in a few years. When should we start?

Two to five years out is the right window. A buyer's diligence asks for monthly reporting, documented add-backs and a forecast they can test; building that takes about a year of clean months. Exit readiness starts with a fixed-fee assessment. We are not brokers and we do not value businesses.

Q06Our month-end close is late. Do we need a CFO or a controller?

Usually a controller first. A forecast built on a close that lands on the 25th is a forecast built on old numbers. Our fractional controller work gets the close to day six, then the CFO work sits on top of it.

Next step

See your runway before the bank asks for it.

The 13-week cash review is a fixed $1,950: your bank data in, a working model and your runway number out, reviewed with a partner in a two-hour session. Three details in the form, or one call.
